Overview: The Azúcar Loca Coffee Company brand is centered around the image of their abuelita. For them, the fondest memories were always centered at the kitchen table with coffee, Café Cubano, café con leche, espresso and lattes flowing freely. Time spent with friends, family, and neighbors: talking, laughing, having fun and utter silliness. It’s the love of life, energy, passion and that experience they strive to bring through their coffee. The Azucar Loca brand believes life should always be fun, crazy and delicioso.

Problem: As a new coffee Azucar Loca really wanted to stand out. What was first a coffee shop concept translated into an online e-commerce coffee brand that was a newcomer to the industry. Coffee competition is very high with thousands of brands to choose from but as a cuban inspired and latin influenced small batch artisan roasted coffee, they sure had an edge and a strong concept on their side.

Solution: A full brand development centered around their mascot, Cachita, was born. She represents all the nostalgia of that home feeling and is reminiscent of the women or grandmother in everyone’s family that is all about joy, life and likes putting big smiles on everyone’s face. A bold and festive art direction was taken for all packaging and branding elements such as marketing collateral, website graphics and shipping packages to ensure that as soon as customers receive their coffee in the mail it gives a sense of joy and a feeling full of life.
